Rapid PSI offers two methods of tooling in-house for the use in producing high quality prototypes and short run production part(s). RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization) and urethane tooling are methods that allow you to obtain accurate duplicate part(s) of a master quickly and inexpensively. Delivery of part(s) usually ranges from 7 to 10 days.
RTV tools capture the smallest details from the master part resulting in the best possible part finish available. The duplicate part(s) can be made in a variety of materials, colors, and textures. Rapid PSI can custom match a color from a sample or to a pantone color. Different textures can be applied to the master part before the tool is made that way the texture is transferred to the tool. RTV tools are capable of producing 25-50 quality parts depending upon the part configuration.
Urethane tools are created using the same process as RTV tooling. Since these tools are made from urethane, the part(s) poured can be made of silicone and other urethanes. With the right release agent the tool life can be as high as 100-1,000 parts in D Durometer urethane and even more in A Durometer.
Rapid PSI has perfected part preparation and tool design which allows us to produce parts that equal or surpass production quality parts. For that reason Rapid PSI’s tooling is not only used for prototypes, but for short run production as well. RTV and Urethane tooling used in production can help you, the customer, take a concept from a drawing or CAD file into production within 1 to 2 weeks. The process of hard tooling can take months to get up and running. If you are looking for 1000 parts per year or less give us a call and let us explain how our short run production can help you build you business today.
Design is one of the most important aspects of the manufacturing process. Without good design and design verification you risk everything. Using prototypes to verify your design, you will help eliminate problems by seeing first hand how that part will fit, form, and function in real life. Not all problems can be seen during the prototype process, which is why we also offer short run production to allow multiple parts time enough to run through extensive product testing.
Stereolithography (SLA) gives you the power to touch, hold, and evaluate precise physical parts of your design ideas within hours. Stereolithography uses a 3-dimensional CAD file as a blueprint to convert a digital image (.stl file) into a physical part. The CAD file guides a laser that solidifies a photopolymer resin, which builds the SLA part by stacking layer upon layer until the part is complete.
Rapid PSI strives to produce the highest quality part possible for your production needs by continually improving our processes and meeting your requirements. We take great pride in our quality of craftsmanship that is why we have taken on the task of becoming ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100(b) compliant. We are having our registration audit in July 2006 to become certified.
