Rapid Prototyping

Designing, testing and refining a new prototype for the market is a trial and error process that used to take an unbearably long time to complete. These days rapid prototyping through 3D printing allows us to speed up the product development process to achieve better results faster and more cost-effectively.

Physically-produced product models shorten the time it takes to test and perfect a design before the manufacturing process. By rooting out flaws early, rapid prototyping allows engineers and designers the ability to correct their designs quickly without wasting precious time and resources.

3D-printed prototypes are made from durable materials that provide functional models needed for testing and can also give you an accurate representation of how your finished product will look and feel. Many of these sturdy materials are also able to undergo finishing processes like painting, sealing electroplating and polishing. For production that requires molds or patterns, 3D printing allows you to test your processes before large investments are made.

Rapid PSI has the production capacity to fill any size order and we work with clients of all sizes in a wide range of industries. We are ISO 9001:2000 / AS 9100 certified and are able to assist you in all phases of your product design process, including: engineering, machining and production. If you are interested in rapid prototyping services, give us a call today at 316-265-2001 or visit our Quote Page to get a rapid quote for your project.

Materials

ULTEM 9085

FST (flame, smoke, toxicity) certified thermoplastic, high heat and chemical resistant; highest tensile and flexural strength, ideal for commercial transportation applications in airplanes, buses, trains, boats, etc.

PC (Polycarbonate)

Most widely used industrial thermoplastic, superior mechanical properties and heat resistant, high tensile strength and can handle high temperatures,  handles large deformations without cracking or breaking.

ABS-M30

Greater tensile, impact and flexural strength than standard ABS, environmentally stable (no appreciable warping, shrinkage or moisture absorption), layer bonding is 40% stronger than standard ABS material.

ABS-EDS7

Static dissipative with target surface resistance of 107 ohms (typical range (109 - 106 ohms), used for electronic and static sensitive products, widely used for functional prototypes of cases, enclosures and packaging.

ABSi

Translucent see-through part material, lets you monitor internal fluid movement or lighting, good blend of mechanical and aesthetic properties, material available in translucent natural, red and amber colors.

ABS-M30i

Biocompatible (ISO 10993 USP Class VI certified) material, sterilizable using gamma radiation or ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization methods, best fit for applications requiring strength and sterilization.

PC-ISO

Biocompatible (ISO 10993 USP Class VI) material, sterilizable using gamma radiation or ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization methods, best fit for applications requiring higher strength and sterilization.

NYLON 12

FDM® Nylon 12 is the first material in Stratasys’ new family of nylon offerings, complementing the current portfolio of FDM materials and enabling new applications requiring: repetitive snap fits, high fatigue resistance, strong chemical resistance and press (friction) fit inserts.

ASA

ASA combines mechanical strength and UV stability with the best part aesthetics FDM technology has to offer. Build enduring prototypes to test fit, form and function, or produce practical production parts for outdoor use.

ULTEM 1010

ULTEM 1010 resin offers the highest heat resistance, chemical resistance and tensile strength of any FDM thermoplastic. It is the only FDM material with an NSF 51 food-contact certification, and it’s biocompatible with an ISO 10993/USP Class VI certification.
